  • Smallest state in Malaysia in area (820 sq. km. – 40km X 20.5km) and in population (254,000 people in 2019).
  • Population breakdown: 246,000 citizens; 8,000 non-citizens.
  • Breakdown of citizens: 219,000 Bumiputra; 19,000 Chinese; 3.000 Indians; 5,000 lain-lain (non-bumiputra = 11%).
  • Hospitals – one government and one private hospital.

  • Services (RM2.166b) – UniMAP, Uitm, Polytechnic, Matric College.
  • Agriculture (RM843m) – fisheries – one of the biggest in Malaysia.
  • Transport, Storage & Communication (RM713m) – Padang Besar land-port and railway transport to Thailand.
  • Manufacturing (RM352m) – cement, sugar, factories in Jejawi.

Key Prayer Areas of Concern for Churches in Perlis:

  • Church attendance. Recently, there are less people attending church services regularly due to Covid concerns.
  • Evangelistic activities. Church leaders will have to rely on personal evangelism.
  • University and College students. There are hardly any University or College students coming to church at the moment due to the Covid situation.

Please pray for unity of the churches:

  • The churches to be strengthen, equipped and walking in the ministry of reconciliation.
  • Unity of the churches – pastors and leaders to come together in corporate prayers.
  • Raising up of kingdom-minded spiritual pastors /leaders to lead, guide and empower His sheep for good works.

Please pray for the raising up of small prayer groups which are:

  • Equipped for spiritual battles
  • Consistently praying targeted prayers for church, state and nation
  • Able to identify various strongholds of darkness
  • Praying His kingdom come – to dismantle all evil schemes of the enemy against state/nation

Please pray for the Lord of the harvest to send in labourers so that they will be able to plant churches strategically in the state.

Key Prayer Areas of Concerns for the State of Perlis

  • Pray against drug addiction in the state. This is because the Chinese triads are pushing drugs to school children in Pauh.

  • Pray for approval to be given by Majlis Perbandaran Kangar to have churches in shoplot units.
